![]() ![]() In the meantime, this works pretty well as-is. Needs a few UI tweaks, some serious memory use optimization, and a little more configurability for the filters, and it's good to go. I would prefer to have all of the buttons in a row beneath the song readout, always visible.Īll in all, a good scrobbler with the potential to be a great one. The sliding animation is very slow, at least on my older PowerBook G4 (1.67 GHz Oct 2005). I like the small icon-buttons in the menu (easier to find the function you want than reading text menu options), but the sliding controls overtop of the song readout are somewhat impractical. I'd like to be able to enter multiple filter words (comma-separated in one input field would be fine), and I'm not clear on whether it will match the string anywhere inside the tag, or if it must be an exact match. The exclusions are nice - something I've wanted for awhile. I occasionally restart ScrobblePod, at which point its memory usage drops to about 75 MB. Something this simple should not require 165 MB of real memory at any time (which is where it's currently sitting for me). It's not causing large CPU spikes or locking up iTunes, and it successfully scrobbles tracks from my iPod with no setup required. I finally got tired of iScrobbler causing iTunes to throw a 5 second beachball party everytime I changed tracks, so I decided to try ScrobblePod again. It'll be auto-launched from now on as the latest appreciated addition to the precious real estate of my menubar :) And if you like last.fm to keep track of the podcasts you've listened to, you also need to uncheck that in the Exclusions list.Ī nicely designed app that's clearly well-conceived and one that its programmer can take pride in. Uncheck "scrobble only if iPod was synchronized", or else the songs will not be sent to last.fm unless you press "Scrobbe Now". You need to tweak the default settings a bit. The two option lists don't seem to be synchronized however.įor users of iTunes who do not own/use an iPod: There are more than 10 alternatives to iScrob for a variety of platforms, including Online / Web-based, Android, iPhone, Mac and iPad. You don't have to do so in both places I assume. iScrob is described as 'free Last.fm scrobbler and music player app that runs 100 in the background, automatically updating your profile live as you listen to music' and is an app. ![]() The options can be accessible from either the app itself (as a checklist) or Growl in Sys Prefs. Lovely integration with Growl, with options to en-/disable notices. So it may still be a step-up from either of those for you. And you can always keep track of the recent tracks you've listened too by going to your lastfm profile page, which is accessible with a simple minimalist mugshot icon in the app's drop-down list. But radio doesn't work well for a lot of people around the world w/out a subscription anyway. No Radio or Recent Track functions iScrobbler & the official app. ![]()
